About Me
My journey as a a therapist is an unorthodox one. As an immigrant from Mexico with a culture that never taught me or spoke about mental health, I grew up never knowing anything about anxiety, depression, or all the many conditions of mental health that at times, were starring at me in the face. I grew up always knowing that I wanted to make a difference but to be honest, I never had an idea how. It wasn't until after I finished my undergraduate degree at UCSB did i apply and attained a job as residential counselor in a facility that supported people who had acute symptoms of schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety and at times suicidal ideation. It wasn't until that moment when I received feedback from clients ranging from "You can tell you care", "You have a very warm personality", "You picked up on it and nobody else did". When I received those types of feedback, in that type of setting, I started to explore the possibility of becoming a therapist.
